Easy Crochet Tank Top Inspiration
It’s officially May and you know what that means! It means it’s finally time to bust out all our shorts and tanks and get ready for some summer fun! It also means that it’s time to start making my favorite type of designs, Crochet Tank Tops! I don’t know what it is about Crochet Tank Tops, but I just can’t seem to get enough!
So I would like to introduce to you, my first crochet tank top of the year, The Wrenigan Tank. The idea for this crochet tank top actually came to me quite a while ago. It’s a sister design to the ever popular Wren Tank + Tee with a few stylistic changes. The Wreingan sports the same easy stitch pattern and sizing as the original but with a trendy cropped cut and button up front. But don’t worry, if crops aren’t your thing, I’ve got ya covered with instructions to modify the length!

What Yarn Do I Need For This Easy Crochet Tank Top?
Like most of my warm weather designs, the Wrenigan Crochet Tank Top is made with my all time favorite yarn, Lion Brand Coboo! It is a category 3 Light weight yarn that is made of 50% cotton and 50% bamboo. This blend is extremely light weight and breathable and creates the most amazing drape of any yarn I’ve ever used! And as we all know, drape is everything when making handmade clothes.
You can shop for Lion Brand Coboo yarn here!

Construction
Lay your panels on top of one another with right sides facing each other. Using your yarn needle and the yarn tail, seam the shoulders together using the mattress stitch.
Once you have your shoulders seamed, cut a piece of yarn about 3 times as long as your side seam. Place a stitch marker on your top where your arm hole decreases begin. You will be seaming from the armhole down towards the bottom.
Border
Attach yarn in the bottom corner of the front panel and Ch 1.
Row 1: Sc evenly around the edges of the first front, around the neckline, and back down the second front. Make sure to use the same amount of Sc on both sides of the sweater. When you reach the bottom corner of the Left front panel, Ch 1 and Turn.
***The amount of Sc stitches around does not matter, a good rule is to place 1 Sc St in the edge of each of the rows. You can also adjust the collar width by doing more or less rows of Sc around. ***
Row 2 – Row 3: Sc in each stitch around. Ch 1, Turn.
Row 4: Sc in each St around until you get to the opposite front panel. This is where you will be making button holes. First, decide where you want your buttons to be placed. Mark those stitches with a stitch marker. Then continue to Sc until you reach the first St marker. Ch 2, Skip the marked St and then Sc in the following St. (1 button hole created). Repeat this process for the amount of buttons you want. Ch 1, Turn.
Row 5: Sc in each St around, including one Sc in each Ch 2 button holes. Ch 1, Turn.
Row 6 – Row 7: Sc in each St around.
To finish off, attach buttons on the opposite panel from your button holes.
Tie off, tuck in those ends and enjoy your new Wrenigan Tank!
