About nine months ago, I took a huge step out of my comfort zone and started sharing my designs with the world. I had been writing patterns for my own personal use for years, but I was terrified to put them out in the world.

Once I finally gathered up enough courage,

I released my first pattern; The Boho Hippie Market Bag! This Crochet Market Bag has been one of my favorites and has also been one of my top sellers, so it seemed like a no brainer to offer it to y’all over here on the blog!

You can still get the inexpensive PDF Version of the Boho Hippie Market Bag in my Etsy Shop or my Ravelry Shop if you prefer to save or print it out.

-This crochet market bag is worked from the bottom up.

-The remainder of the rounds will be be joined with a SL ST to the first ST of the round.

-The Chain Stitches do not count as a stitch throughout pattern.

Special Stitches

Magic Ring

This pattern uses a Magic Ring/ Circle, if you are unfamiliar with this method, you can always CH 3, join to the first CH, forming a loop, and then work your stitches into the ring that you just formed.

Puff Stitch

YO, insert hook into next stitch and bring up a loop, you now have 3 loops on your hook. YO, insert hook back into the same stitch, and bring up a loop, you now have 5 loops on your hook.  Repeat this 2 more times (4 times total) ending with 9 loops on your hook. YO, pull through all the loops, and finish with a CH 1.

Crossed Double Crochet

Skip the next stitch, double crochet into the following stitch. Then work a double crochet into the previously skipped stitch.

Do not fasten off

Place a stitch marker in the 44th ST, and the 50th ST, from Round 35. This will be where we attach the strap to the opposite side of the bag.

Strap

Row 1: CH 1, SC in the first 7 ST, CH 1, Turn. (7)

Row 2: SC in each ST across, CH 1, Turn. (7)

Repeat Row 2 until your strap has 114 rows or is approximately 30” long.

Feel free to adjust the length of your strap to the length you desire, by adjusting the number of rows.

Fasten off leaving about a 6” tail to attach the strap to the other stride of the bag.

Using your yarn needle, attach the strap to the opposite side of the bag, lining it up with the stitch markers.

Tie off and weave in those ends!

You now have your very own super cute crochet market bag!! I hope you love this pattern as much as I do. Make sure to pin this for later, and if you make one tag me @Cactus.and.lace on Instagram! I would love to share your pics! 🌵
