How to Crochet the Glover Stitch
When I sit down to start brainstorming a new design, the first thing I do is explore as many different stitch choices as I can. I am a firm believer in that when you find the perfect stitch for your project, you will just know, and the Glover Stitch is no exception! This stitch is so simple and creates gorgeous texture that looks amazing from all different angles!
Today I would like to share with you a detailed photo tutorial of how to do the Glover Stitch. For this tutorial I will be using I Love this Yarn from Hobby Lobby and a size I (5.5 mm) hook however, it looks great with bulky weight yarns as well!
So lets get started! For the glover stitch, you will need to chain a multiple of 2+1. For this example, I chained 15.
Then insert the hook into the 2nd chain (Ch) from the hook and draw up a loop. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
Yarn over (Yo), insert the hook into the next chain (Ch), and draw up a loop. You now have 4 loops on the hook.
Yo, and pull through all 4 loops. Then Ch 1.
Continue this until you get to the end of the row.
Ch 2, and turn. It is important that you always Ch 2 at the end of your rows because you will be working into the 2nd Ch from your hook.
Working in the 2nd Ch from the hook, insert your hook into the Front Loop Only (Flo), and draw up a loop.
Yo, insert your hook into both loops of the next stitch and draw up a loop. (4 loops on your hook)
Yo, and pull through all loops. Then Ch 1.
Insert hook into the the Flo of the next stitch, draw up a loop. Yo, insert hook into both loops of the next stitch, draw up a loop. Yo, pull through all loops. Then Ch 1.
Yo, insert hook into both loops of the next stitch, draw up a loop. Yo, pull through all loops. Then Ch 1.
Continue to repeat this until you get to the end of the row, then Ch 2.
Repeat this for as many rows as desired to create the gorgeous texture of the Glover Stitch.
I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you did, don’t hesitate to drop me a comment below and come hang out with me over on instagram!
Until next time
